The Montessori philosophy has been around for centuries and practiced in homes worldwide. Each child is valued as a unique individual and we recognise that children learn in different ways, and that there are a variety of ways that children are able to learn.
Montessori at Home is dedicated to helping parents and educators to create the richest learning environments possible for children during their most important period of growth, through the provision of “hands-on” learning activities in the home. Montessori activities are fun, creative and children begin to have a sense of belonging and responsibility through purposeful activities. It is the role of our educators to provide a source of interesting Montessori based activities to keep the children engaged and to satisfy their built in curiosity. Our educators
Children learn how to become more independent, more self-confident, more motivated to learn and subsequently become very proud of their achievements by getting lots of practice for their fine and gross motor skills. Children build their confidence and in doing so they also support brain development.
By allowing children to work uninterrupted and really allow for deep concentration they become more focused on what they are learning and complete their tasks. The quality time with your child will be better spent, as they learn new skills to take responsibility for keeping their home environment more orderly.
Children achieve greater independence in the home and this gives them a greater sense of their importance in their family, community, and in the world. Your child will become so much more knowledgeable in a number of subjects as they are encouraged to follow their interests and therefore have more passion for what they are learning.
The role of a Montessori at Home educators and coordinators is one more of a guide than a teacher is because it requires high level of individual responsibility and trust and willingness to open one’s home to others, as the service is provided or often occurs in the home. At Montessori at Home, we take great care in the selection of our Home Educators, ensuring that only those who are highly capable, reliable, and responsible get the position. As an ECE home education service provider, Montessori at Home is confident that our educators are highly committed and capable in providing education, care and comfort directly to the children in their care, and in ensuring their health and safety. Working with the Coordinator, our educators are provided with support, advice and training in early childhood education.
We will meet with each family and assess their needs based on the hours they work, location they live, and ages of their child. By choosing Montessori education for your child you are making an informed choice and we will support you in selecting a Montessori at Home educator that is most similar or suited to your own family philosophy, and who will practice the Montessori philosophy with your child in a home environment. We will also support you in creating an environment in your own home which will ultimately extend your child with learning and becoming more independent.
All of our educators have a keen interest and/or training in the Montessori Philosophy. We offer online training for our educators and they receive support from our qualified AMI Montessori trained coordinator to ensure that your child is receiving authentic Montessori education at home. Resources are also supplied to our educators and they receive ongoing training in the Montessori Philosophy of teaching.
Because Montessori is a philosophy based on preparing an environment to gain independent learning and self help skills it is not a requirement that you have a Montessori qualification. We will support you in setting up your home to enable you to practice the Montessori method and also provide resources to meet this end. We actively encourage further knowledge through professional development and recommended reading and will also support you in training further by offering an online course.
